Room

Five-year-old Jack lives with mother Joy inside a locked garden shed he calls Room, believing its objects comprise the world. Joy has protected his development during years of captivity, but as he grows she begins preparing him for escape and an unimaginable outside.

Under Lenny Abrahamson, skylight, wardrobe, rolled carpet, television, eggshells, close lenses, and Jack's narration make Room a child's coherent universe—Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay show survival as relationship and later readjustment.
