Why it belongs
Hayao Miyazaki makes flight exhilarating and morally charged through tactile machines, cloudscapes, ruins, and two children's practical courage.
Read expanded why it belongsThe fuller editorial case+
Steam engines, flapping aircraft, vertical mines, cloud passages, and Laputa's overgrown machinery give technology distinct weights and ethics. Sheeta and Pazu's cooperation keeps the aerial spectacle tied to care, curiosity, and resistance to possession.
