Spoiler-free premise
An Indian revolutionary carries the memory of colonial violence while pursuing a long-delayed act of justice.
Read expanded premiseLonger, still spoiler-free+
Indian revolutionary Udham Singh lives under assumed identities in Britain while preparing to confront former Punjab lieutenant governor Michael O'Dwyer. Interrogation and memory return him to the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre that shaped his long pursuit.
Why it belongs
Sardar Udham treats anticolonial revenge as memory and historical witness, deploying patient duration and Kaushal's restraint instead of triumphalist drive.
Read expanded why it belongsThe fuller editorial case+
Vicky Kaushal lets trauma emerge through controlled attention and physical exhaustion. London streets, false papers, prison questioning, long silences, and an extended reconstruction of Jallianwala Bagh resist compressing history into a single act.
